Firefighting 2
- Advanced Fire & Emergency Training: Students receive hands-on instruction in fire behavior and suppression, search and rescue, ladders, ventilation, forcible entry, hazardous materials, EMS, trauma care, and the Incident Command System.
- Professional & Leadership Skills: Emphasis is placed on communication, teamwork, leadership, and critical decision-making essential for the fire service.
- Career & Certification Preparation: The course prepares students for the California Firefighter 1 certification pathway and entry-level employment with local fire departments, CAL FIRE, and wildland fire agencies.
Firefighters
Control and extinguish fires or respond to emergency situations where life, property, or the environment is at risk. Duties may include fire prevention, emergency medical service, hazardous material response, search and rescue, and disaster assistance.
First-Line Supervisors of Firefighting and Prevention Workers
Directly supervise and coordinate activities of workers engaged in firefighting and fire prevention and control.

Brian Combs
Firefighting 1, Firefighting 2
Brian brings decades of frontline fire service and emergency medical experience to his work. He served 19 years as a Fire Engine Captain and 4 years as a Battalion Chief, with an additional 9 years as a volunteer firefighter in Tehama County. A 22-year EMT, Brian has also instructed for the U.S. Forest Service Region 5 Engine Academy and the Wildland Firefighter Apprenticeship Program, helping train the next generation of firefighters.
